“I didn’t go to religion to make me happy. I always knew a bottle of port would do that. If you want a religion to make you feel really comfortable, I certainly don’t recommend Christianity.”—C.S. Lewis (via wonderrlove)
Had a great conversation this evening…I learned that 1. In life, things happen to all of us 2. When negative things happen, its not always Satan. Sometimes its God testing us to see how much faith we have.
Satan tempts. God allows us to go thru TESTs…that’s the only way we can have a TESTimony….
There comes a point in our lives where we must get over ourselves. Once we come to the realization that life doesn’t revolve around “I”, that life is going to move on regardless of how much attention we feel we need to feed that “I”, then (and only then) we can focus our attention on the One who blessed us with the gift of Life.
Let’s be in the business of starving the “I”. Look at life objectively. Reality wasn’t meant to take, toy with, and then “create” what we feel it should be (based on our biases, ideologies or even our presuppositions). Reality isn’t relative. Truth isn’t relative. That whole “what’s true to you, is true to you….and what’s true to me, is true to me” is relativism. It is a lie we’ve been accustomed to living by, giving that “I” a sense of feeling “I” is all that matters, that “I” defies accountability for what that “I” does.
Let’s get real with ourselves. As the world revolves, just know that we are in it. Look at it for what it is. Objectively. Search for truth. It’s objective. As a sponge absorbs water, let’s search with that type of heart. You have worth. Life has meaning. You are more than just the physical shell you live in. God blessed us with purpose and a limitless supply of embedded attributes to walk in that purpose He destined for us. We just need to get out the way and let God lead our way. Less attention on “I”, more attention on the Most High. His Word, the Bible “…that goes out from my mouth: it will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it” (Isaiah 55:11 NIV). That’s His Word, not mine.
God said it. God was here way before we even existed and will be here after us. We’re just “…mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes” (James 4:14 NIV). God knew we would exist, me writing, and you reading this post. Whether we wanna believe Him or not, that’s our free will to do so. However, it doesn’t escape us from accountability nor gives us a pass to chalk-it-up to our ignorance. Truth/reality are not relative as to how we feel. It either IS or it AIN’T.
Let’s get to finding meaning in our lives. Purposeful living. You don’t have to, that’s your free-will choice. But it comes a point where we’ll all be confronted with this. A point where amidst always being on “GO”, you’ll sit back and ponder “what is all this pointing to?” “what is life truly about?” Once that thought comes to mind, get over yourself, get to searching and experience the freedom that Christ provides by His Truth. His Word. I got tired of just existing. I’m tryna live. Get over yourself. Let’s live!
"…Jesus said if you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free." (John 8:31-32 NIV)
"Then Jesus said to His disciples, "if anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me." For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will find it. What good will it be for a man if he gains the whole world, yet forfeits his soul? Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul?" (Matthew 16:24-26 NIV)
"Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need" (Matthew 6:33 NLT)
